drama by Martin Sherman ❖ Directed by Rob Gibh

In 1934 Berlin, Max and his lover Rudy are recovering from an encounter with a gay SS trooper when two storm troopers burst in and slit their guest's throat. Thus begins a nightmare odyssey through Nazi Germany which ranked gays on a human scale lower than Jews.

COMMUNITY GROUPS

What makes a community center alive and vital?

by Linda Malicki

Cleveland-What makes a community center alive and vital? You do! The LesbianGay Community Service Center has queer staff, queer board members, queer volunteers, queer financial supporters, queer clients and queer friends.

In fact, when you add all of those people together over a year's time you would find that nearly 10,000 queer people work at, use or support our center. Think about it. Not only is the center about us— -it is

us.

We know because corporations such as Roche Laboratories and American Express Financial Advisors have stepped up to the plate to sponsor our programs and events.

We know because over 750 individuals from our community contributed nearly $71,000 to our center last year because they strongly believe in what we do.

The Center

And how could something involving 10,000 queer people not be vital, alive and downright glorious? It's impossible.

How do you know that a community center is alive and vital? Well, you know because people keep reaching out to support, to help, to become a part of it. You know because groups like Insight and the Rainbow Wranglers volunteer their time to put on a fundraiser for us. We know because bars such as Code Blue, M.J.'s Place, Rockies, the Nickel and others step up to raise money for our programs.

We know because funders such as the George Gund Foundation, the Cleveland Foundation, the Be True to Yourself Foundation and the Northern Ohio Coalition, or NOCI, believe in us enough to have granted over $42,000 towards our programs and our future.

We know because every week someone new steps up and asks, “How can I help?"

People like you. The Lesbian-Gay Community Service Center crackles with vitality. We are gloriously, gayly alive and it's because of the energy that you bring to us. We are an irrepressible force when we come together, and you can see the results here at 1418 West 29th Street. Thanks.

Upcoming events that you can still support:

Now through May 30: Ta-Da series of dinners.
